Palo Alto Art Center

Palo Alto Art Center next to Rinconada Park is part class and studio space for kids and adults and part art museum.

We recently finished an eight week session of “My First Art Class”. The class is set up with 5 activity stations. It is parent participation and the teacher walks around the stations to help, if needed.

Each week is based around a theme from holidays to “things found outside”. The play dough station, where Sam spent most of his time, stays the same each week. The other stations rotate, but usually involve painting and something wearable like a hat or a necklace.

The last 15 minutes of class is spent in the courtyard singing songs. The kids loved running around the courtyard fountain.

On the other side of the art center is a free (donation suggested) art museum and store. You don’t need to take classes to enjoy the museum.

The museum gallery rotates and features local artists’ work. The current theme is “bird in the hand”, which ends April 10, 2016.
