The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay

The Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay surprised me with its toddler-friendliness. Beach access, free parking, a welcoming staff, and a restaurant with a view and high chairs.

Sam and I took a day trip to the beach with our friends visiting from out of town. After a long walk along the Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail near Half Moon Bay State Beach (and seeing whales popping in and out of the ocean along the way!), we drove to the nearby Ritz-Carlton on a tip from another mom.

We had a little bit of confusion finding parking, until a helpful valet told us we needed to check with the front desk attendant for the code to the garage. It is free for beach goers and you do not need to stay or eat at the hotel to use it. There is also a surface lot along the way up the hill, but it was full.

We spent a short time admiring the hotel lobby. It was after lunch, but too early for dinner. We opted for resting at The Ocean Terrace with iced drinks.

A short path near the hotel leads to some steep steps down to Pelican Point Beach.

And seating areas with gorgeous views along the way.
